A meditation on the subject of cosmology By Turtle Woman
... I feel strongly that an official organizational standpoint should be on principles, not on specific cosmologies borrowed from other places. Our cosmology is one of freedom. For once we start to define it by anything other than generalized principles, it becomes dogma ... On a personal level, all this has made me question my own faith and beliefs once again.......seems a never-ending process.........I was actually bordering on the space that maybe I had no god , I have been here before and found that space lacking, at least for me. One thing that keeps coming through my mind is something I got from AA: "principles above personalities" - and for me that is one of the expressions of Godde. In my inner meanderings I came to realize that I am not sure what I consider sacred. I wonder - is there nothing sacred??? Which caused me to look deeper. This is my sacred list, which is the next step in my inner journey of the present:
and a statement:
Some words were not simple, and I was trying to make it a simple as possible, a simple set of principles of my faith. ... I realized that this is the god of my understanding and that is why I see that god everywhere - because I look for these principles. Some of the concepts explained to me why I could be Wiccan, Christian, Druid - what ever - monotheist, polytheist or duotheist. Communion, individuality and balance hold within them these concepts and, therefore, because I hold these concepts sacred, I see the sacredness within the other words that people sometimes use to divide. It is the principles that help me unify. Life in itself is abundance and all things, therefore it's nature is monotheist, polytheist and duotheist, even atheist. It's nature is inclusive. I embrace Life as sacred.
