Ode To Halloween

By  Aunt Tigger

  On this night of Halloween,
  Devils rise and daemons scream.
Frights and scares of all the flowers,
All come true by the ends of hours.

  Eerie cries and spooky moans,
  Whispered lies and ghastly groans,
  All emerge this hallow's eve,
To mortal's ears, open to receive.

  Skeletons, cats and jack-o-lanterns,
  Eerie glows and spider hangings.
  Witches on their brooms astride,
Cats and bats will also ride.

  Creaking boards and clanking chains,
Ghouls and ghosts, their claim to fame,
  Haunting each and every night,
  Halloween gives a special fright.

Barren trees with long, thin branches,
  Reaching out with slender fingers,
To pull at your hair, and tug at your shirt,
  The tree's alive, and it
tries to hurt.

Rising from the dead of night,
  Spirits climb and mortals fright.
  Taking over mortal time,
Ghouls and ghosts enjoy the clime.

  Haunting methods of unnatural stead,
The boards do creak and mortals dread.
Emerging from their way up towers,
Frights and bats no longer cower.

From the Dawn of Time till now,
All creatures come and take your bows.
For on this night-''tis ours alone.
The ebb of time does flow
And our time grows shorter still,

  On this night of Halloween!
